AI for neuroscience applies machine learning to data about the brain, from scans to traces of brain cells found in blood, to understand and detect diseases such as Alzheimer's. The government's AI for Science Strategy notes the field has no "AlphaFold equivalent" yet. Prima Mente, based in London and San Francisco, generates its own biological data and builds foundation models, starting with Alzheimer's (per the site). Its Pleiades models read chemical marks on DNA (the epigenome), and the company reports blood-DNA signals that point to brain-cell damage before symptoms appear.
