How to read these numbers

  • Data as of 28 October 2026 (edition 2.1). Every entry comes from the research document (version 2.0) and its Supplement 1 (second pass and fact-check, merged as edition 2.1), each with a source link and a verbatim quote, opened on or before that date. Some websites still could not be opened; those gaps stay listed on each page.
  • What counts. 1,252 verified entries are drawn across all pages. 73 link cards (an item whose full entry lives on another page) are listed under "Also on other pages", not counted twice. Rows the research marked unverified are kept out of the counts and pages.
  • Confidence tags (the research's own definitions): "verified" means two sources, one of them primary, or a primary page that states the fact directly; "single source" means one source; "unverified" means no page was opened — those rows never render. Shown on every entry panel.
  • Money. Public money is Part 2.4 Table A, counted rows only: a floor ("at least"). Wider programmes (Table B) and claimed savings (Table C) are not added. Private pledges (Table D) are shown separately and never added to public money.
  • Publications. Counted live from the GOV.UK search API for 2026, matching the phrase "artificial intelligence", per GOV.UK organisation. Pages without a GOV.UK organisation use their own public source: Scotland from the gov.scot publications search, Wales from the gov.wales publications search, Parliament from Parliament's open research-briefings data (Commons Library, Lords Library, POST) and the committees API, Local from the LGA artificial-intelligence topic page and local-authority records on the ATRS register. The same AI filter applies. Pages with no tested feed (Northern Ireland, some regulators and research bodies) show a gap, not a zero.
  • Map. Only published postcodes are mapped, geocoded with postcodes.io; nothing is placed from a guessed address. Second offices are labelled as such. Four AI Growth Zones are placed at the town centre named in the research (labelled "town centre, not the exact site").
  • DSIT is shown only as superseded, with its functions on the Cabinet Office, BIST and DCMS pages (see "See what changed" on the central government chart).
  • AI Research Resource: £1bn or £2bn? (Open conflict). GOV.UK pages give "an extra £1 billion" for the AIRR and "up to £2 billion" for public compute to 2030. Supplement 1 does not settle it. Both figures are shown; only the £2bn envelope is counted once in the money total. (MON-031 · MON-032 · GOV-RES-013)
  • TechFirst: £160m, figure unclear (Decided). Shown as £160m (Spending Review 2025 document) and labelled "figure unclear"; GOV.UK releases say £187m. (MON-076 · GOV-DFE-041)
  • Lanarkshire AI Growth Zone community fund: £540m (Decided). Shown as £540m; trade press says "up to £543 million". (PLG-020 · GOV-BIST-030)
  • £30m local AI partnerships: ownership unclear (Decided). No lead department or delivery body is named on the pages read. (MON-021)
  • £20m Sovereign AI Unit gap: ownership unclear (Decided). The Budget gives £140m; the itemised lines add to £120m. The £20m is not explained. (MON-024 · GOV-BIST-021)
  • Correction route: unclear (Decided). No correction email or form has been chosen, so none is shown.
  • AI Growth Zone status labels (Still open). The research uses "live" (BIST), "announced" (Wales and Northern Ireland) and "planned" (Scotland) for the same zones, and no page shows the sites operating. One label has not yet been chosen, so each page shows its own wording.
  • Sources: the research document (docs/government/CLAUDE_MASTER_v1.md), GOV.UK, the ATRS register, legislation.gov.uk, parliament.uk and each body's own site. How to report a correction is still unclear: no correction email or form has been chosen yet.
